Draw Something now localized in language and word-choice for the Chinese speaking audience
SAN FRANCISCO and BEIJING – June 13th, 2012 – Zynga, the world’s leading provider of social game services, today announced the launch of the Simplified Chinese version of Zynga’s popular mobile social game, Draw Something on Sina Weibo. Through this first-time partnership between Zynga and Sina, one of China’s largest social networks, players can download the localized version of Draw Something on the App Store and play using Sina Weibo to connect with their friends and family.
Starting today, Draw Something will be offered as a localized version in Simplified Chinese including a translated user interface and new English word choices that are meaningful and culturally relevant to the Chinese speaking audience. Players can use the Simplified Chinese version of Draw Something on the App Store by logging-in using their Sina Weibo accounts. From there, players can invite their Sina Weibo friends to play the game and can share their drawings on Sina Weibo.
Draw Something, a mobile social game available on the App Store and Google Play, has become a cultural phenomenon since launching earlier this year. With simple and social gameplay, the game is built on collaboration between players – one player draws a picture of a chosen word and the other must guess the word correctly before moving onto their turn to show off their drawing skills. Players receive rewards such as in-game coins and color shades when they guess a word correctly. Additionally, Draw Something is launching in a total of 12 new languages today.
Draw Something, joined the Zynga family in March 2012, has captured the imagination of millions of people around the world. Draw Something fun facts include:
- Since launching, more than 8 billion drawings have been created
- Draw Something passed 50 million total installs (downloads) within 50 days of launching
- Draw Something had three drawings per second the day the game launched
- At its peak each day, Draw Something typically generates 3,000 drawings per second
- Draw Something has more than 1.5 million 5 star reviews across multiple platforms
Zynga focuses on making its mobile games free, social, multi-platform and high-quality. Zynga Mobile continues to bring a variety of genres and games to reflect its players’ lifestyles and provides them with the social experiences they want, at any time and on any device, regardless of platform. Today’s announcement marks Zynga’s first mobile game localization in Chinese as well as its first partnership with Sina.
Draw Something is available for free on the App Store for iPhone and iPod touch and on Google Play for Android devices. The Simplified Chinese version of Draw Something also offers players a way to guess their opponent’s drawing directly from the Sina Weibo feed utilizing an immediate HTML5 interface. This unique feature will enable anyone who sees the feed to experience the fun of the game regardless if they have downloaded the app themselves.
