Helping Out With H2O

Zynga.org and Water.org have partnered up to give FarmVille 2 players a chance to bring fresh water to communities around the globe.

As part of the four-week campaign that starts November 8, FarmVille 2 players will have the chance to purchase three different limited-edition watery items for their virtual homesteads. Zynga and Facebook will donate 100% of these purchases to benefit Water.org, an organization founded by Matt Damon and Gary White that provides access to safe water and sanitation to those in need.

It’s yet another smart initiative that channels Zynga’s passionate and social online community into a real-world force for good. "Our ongoing partnership with Zynga.org is connecting the world with one of the most important issues of our times," says actor Matt Damon, co-founder of Water.org. "For people without safe drinking water, life is a daily struggle for survival. Zynga is tapping into the power of their network and players to deliver real and lasting change."

As part of the initiative, FarmVille 2 “farmers” can cultivate their virtual farms with special Water.org jerry cans, pumps and sprinklers (which come with valuable in-game water!) and help real communities worldwide. What a refreshing concept!
