They say there's no such thing as an original idea. I don't think that's true, but I do think that in the tech world a novel idea is only as valuable as the plan of execution and the creative thinking that brings the idea to fruition. I understand the argument that patenting abstract ideas leads not only to oodles of lawsuits, but also stifles creativity and brilliant problem-solving.
